Le Portetta Lofts, the ultimate solution to the perfect family skiing holiday
Getting every aspect right of that precious family skiing holiday is something that parents across the UK endeavour to do every year – some are successful and some, tragically, are not. This season, Le Portetta Lofts in Courchevel 1650 effortlessly deliver the solution to ensure that families, and groups of adults, get their holiday right in one fell swoop.
There are six Le Portetta Lofts which vary in size and which sit comfortably at the top of Le Portetta hotel. These lofts are essentially like chalets perched on top of a hotel so the space available is boundless – large enough for two families to enjoy. Joyously, guests have access to the facilities in the hotel Portetta including the restaurant, spa and in-house ski rental – a convenience never to be under-estimated.
The six lofts vary in size with Portetta Lofts III, IV and VI sleeping six; Portetta Lofts I and II sleeping four and, eccentrically, Portetta Loft V sleeping three. The vast majority of the bedrooms have en-suite bath or shower rooms and there is additional sleeping capacity on double sofa beds. Every loft enjoys breathtaking mountain views with most also looking out over the slopes. The majority have balconies which lend themselves perfectly to a long, languorous vin chaud after a hard day’s skiing – hey, no need to make it yourself, order it from the hotel bar! The open fireplaces in each loft provide that inimitable chalet feel, exclusive to the Alps.
The part that will excite the masses all the more is the price – it costs from £5,910 to take the six-bedroom loft, which works out at a mere £985pp. That’s got to be amongst the most reasonably priced accommodation in Courchevel 1650, smugly positioned in the middle of the world’s largest ski area.
Le Portetta hotel beneath the lofts is ski in ski out and a two-minute trot to the lifts makes light of that kit-carrying headache synonymous with family skiing. On Tripadvisor Le Portetta has been heralded as “the perfect hotel” by one very happy customer and as having “the best service in France” by an equally happy client, in fact you’re hard pushed to find a single unhappy guest.
