Le Portetta Mountain Lodges
Three chalets and a baby
Belvedere is made up of a handful of chalets, the loveliest of which is a cluster known as the Portetta Mountain Lodges. Owned by the same clever proprietor of Lime Wood, the UKs hottest new hotel, the Portetta Mountain Lodges are four sumptuously kitted out chalets. Three are spacious and sleep up to 16 and the fourth is one of the Alps’ truly diddiest chalets, sleeping no more than two beings.
Named after alpine animals, Chalets Blanchot, Chamois, Marmotte and Petite Marmotte are all set to raise the bar in the existing chalet scene in this part of Courchevel. NEW for this season in the larger three chalets are hot tubs which look down over the stunning Parc de la Vanoise. With spa areas on the lower ground floor of each chalet these hot tubs will further perfect these ski retreats making them total havens to head back to at the end of a day’s hard skiing.
Chalet Blanchot (sleeps 12 in 5 en-suites) comes complete with wooden floors, woollen cashmere fabrics, antique chests and a serious BOSE sound system. Chalet Chamois (sleeps 16 in 7 en-suites) is wonderfully spacious lending itself beautifully to three or even four families. Chalet Marmotte (sleeps 10 in 4 en-suites) has a rustic chic feel with classically alpine woodwork throughout and rich warm colours. Petite Marmotte (sleeps 2 in 1 en-suite) was a former hay store before being lovingly resorted into this rustic retreat the size of which is hard to find anywhere in the alps – honeymooners heaven.
Of the larger chalets prices start from £8,370 working out at £1,046pp – not bad – and of our little baby, Petite Marmotte, it costs a mere £1,255 working out at £630pp – providing possibly the most unique accommodation in the Alps. Prices include breakfast, tea and dinner.
